Functional Movement Screening – FMS

The FMS consists of 7 movements that assess an individual’s movement patterns. Each movement is scored between 0 and 3.The FMS is a very good indicator of an individual’s stability and mobility of the various joints and a low score on the FMS test indicates an increased risk of injury. A low score on the FMS is also associated with decreased performance as a low score generally, indicates that an individual’s movement patterns aren’t optimal and that compensation occurs in order to ensure that a movement can be performed.

The 7 movements are:
1. Overhead Squat
2. Single Leg Hurdle
3. Split Squat
4. Shoulder Mobility
5. Active Leg raise
6. Stability Push-up
7. Seated Rotation
